Parking in Vejle

When parking in Vejle city centre, we recommend using the following parking facilities:

Here you get 2 hours of free parking. Your licence plate will be scanned upon entry, and you can pay for extra time (beyond the two free hours) via the payment machine or app.

By train and bus

By car

Vejle is centrally located on the East Jutland Motorway, E45 and the Central Jutland Motorway. There are several options for car hire in Vejle. Have a look at your car rental options below.

Where can I park in Jelling?

It is easy to find a parking space in Jelling and parking is free. Among the places you can park are the Kollegiegade carpark, on Vestergade, on Runevej, on Mølvangvej, at Byens Hus (entrance via Bethaniavej or Møllegade) and by the railway station on Jernbanevej. Where can I park a tourist coach in Vejle?

You can drop off and pick up your passages at the parking lots designated for tourist coaches at Borgvold at Vejle Traffic Centre. It is also possible to drop passengers off and pick them up again, in the marked booths along Strandgade near Fjordenhus.

You can park tourist coaches on Ibæk Strandvej close to the Vejle Fjord Bridge. Please note, that there is some distance to Vejle city from here.

Where can I park a tourist coach in Jelling?

You can park tourist coaches in the designated parking lots on Herningvej, Jernbanevej or by the wayside in Bredager. See a map of parking spots in Jelling.

How do I get from Vejle to LEGOLAND or Billund Airport with public transport?

Regional buses 43 and 143 run from Vejle Traffic Centre by Vejle Station to LEGOLAND and Billund Airport. There is a bus stop just outside LEGOLAND. In Billund Airport, busses stop at the entrance to the terminal building.

With bus 43, it takes approx. 34 minutes to LEGOLAND and approx. 29 minutes to Billund Airport. The bus runs about every half hour (during late and early hours approx. every hour) all days from early morning till late evening. With bus 143, it takes approx. 40 minutes to LEGOLAND and approx. 45 minutes to Billund Airport. Bus 143 runs approx. once an hour.

You purchase tickets from the bus driver using Danish kroner or Euro (cash, only bank notes). If you pay with euros (notes only), you will get change back in Danish kroner. You can withdraw cash at the ATM at Vejle Station (for a fee). You can also pay using the RejseBillet app.

How do I get from Vejle to Jelling with public transport?

By bus (weekdays)

Regional bus 211 runs from Vejle Trafikcenter at Banegårdspladsen (next to Vejle Station) to Jelling on weekdays. If you are visiting the Jelling Monuments/Kongernes Jelling, you should get off at Skovgade by Vejlevej in Jelling. From there, it is about a 550-meter walk.

The bus ride to Jelling takes about 20 minutes. Bus 211 runs approximately once per hour on weekdays (about every 30 minutes during rush hour).

You can buy your ticket from the bus driver using Danish kroner or euros (cash, notes only). If you pay in euros (notes only), you will receive change in Danish kroner. You can withdraw cash from the ATM at Vejle Station (a fee may apply). It is also possible to pay with a Rejsekort or the RejseBillet app. See current prices and timetables at sydtrafik.dk.

 

By train (every day)

Trains run daily from Vejle Station to Jelling Station. If you are visiting the Jelling Monuments/Kongernes Jelling, you will find the sights about 400 meters from the station.

The train ride to Jelling takes about 13–14 minutes. Trains run approximately once per hour.

You can buy your ticket at the ticket machine at the station, at the 7-Eleven kiosk at Vejle Station, or online at dsb.dk or in the RejseBillet app. You can also plan your trip on rejseplanen.dk. Check the current prices at the machine or online when planning your trip.

How do I get from Vejle to Givskud Zoo with public transport?

On weekdays

Regional bus 211 runs from Vejle Traffic Centre by Vejle Station to Givskud. To visit Givskud Zoo, alight at Løveparkvej in Givskud. From here, walk approx. 700 metres.

It takes approx. 28-34 minutes to drive by bus 211 to Givskud. The bus runs approx. every 1-3 hours on weekdays.

You purchase tickets from the bus driver using Danish kroner or Euro (cash, bank notes only). If you pay with euros (bank notes only), you will get change back in Danish kroner. You can withdraw cash at the ATM at Vejle Station (for a fee). You can also pay using the RejseBillet app.

On weekends

On weekends, you can take the train from Vejle Station to Give Station, where you need to change to regional bus 119. To visit Givskud Zoo, alight at Løveparkvej in Givskud. From here, walk approx. 700 metres.

The train and bus trip to Givskud takes approx. 40 minutes. There are departures approx. every 3-4 hours.

Where can I store my baggage in Vejle?

You can store your luggage in the lockers at Vejle Station, Banegårdspladsen 3, 7100 Vejle. The cost for a storage locker depends on the size of the locker and can be seen near the lockers. You can store your luggage for up to 3 days. Payment is by card.

You can drop off and pick up your luggage within the station's (foyer's) opening hours, which are: 

  • Monday - Saturday from 04:45 to 24:00
  • Sundays and public holidays from 06:45 to 24:00.
Where do you find the regional Flixbus service?

Flixbus connects Vejle with the regions in Denmark, including Copenhagen and Aarhus. The designated bus stops are located at Borgvold at Vejle Traffic Centre. You can see the bus sign by the road outside the GreenMind store, just across the road from the corner of VisitVejle.

Where can I park in central Vejle?

Finding a parking space in central Vejle is easy. Some parking spaces are free, while others require paying a parking fee.

There are more than 1,400 parking spaces in central Vejle - many with two hours of free parking, such as in the parking garages Tróndur, Albert and Cronhammar as well as on the rooftop of the Bryggen shopping centre. 

Always read the signage carefully before leaving the car. Pay special attention to the parking regulations when parking near Banegårdspladsen and the city centre by Dæmningen, as well as by Fjordenhus on the waterfront.
