Tourist Information
From where can I send my postcard in Vejle?
PostNord announced in March 2025 that from 1 January 2026 they will no longer deliver letters. As a result, the red post boxes across the country have gradually been removed.
From January 2026, you can instead send your letter with DAO within Denmark, Europe, and to the rest of the world. Postage can be purchased both online and via the app. Find your nearest daoSHOP here.
Please note that letters must be flexible (paper or thin cardboard). When sending a parcel, the recipient’s email address or phone number must also be provided.
Where can I exchange money?
It is possible to exchange cash at Billund Airport at Global Exchange. Please note, that it is a good idea to book an appointment online on the Global Exchange website in advance, as the office is not always staffed.

How do I find a dentist on my holiday?
If you need a dentist while on holiday in Vejle, you can contact one of the dentists in the area. See the list of dentists in Vejle and the surrounding area here (in Danish).

Outside opening hours for the doctor-on-call
Outside the opening hours of the on-call-doctor, foreign tourists can contact the nearest general practitioner. If you are covered by public health insurance in another EEA country (that is, the EU countries, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein) or Switzerland, you are entitled to necessary healthcare services while staying in Denmark.

Can I get disability assistance when traveling with train?
You can book disability assistance with luggage weighing up to 20 kg. Book the disability services for both DSB and GoCollective by filling in the online form at DSB.dk. You can also call DSB Customer Service at +45 7013 1419 no later than 12 hours in advance.

How do I take a taxi with a handicap?
Many of Vejle Taxa's larger vehicles are fitted with lifts, allowing them to accommodate wheelchair-users.
Vejle Taxa additionally offers the service of assisting wheelchair users scaling stairs in properties.
Vejle Taxa partners with DSB (the national railway company) to offer a nationwide disability service. Here you can book times ahead where your wheelchair can be lifted in and out of trains arriving to Vejle Station. This service is available for the disabled, the visually impaired, the walking impaired and other persons requiring assistance in reaching the train from a given meeting point and vice versa.

How do I, with a special need, get around Vejle with public transport?
Flextur is an on-demand public transport service with smaller vehicles. You ride with other passengers and the vehicle may make a detour to pick up additional passengers.
If you are a wheelchair user and need to be seated in your wheelchair during the trip, you are eligible to use. Flextur provided the only assistance you require is to be lifted in and out of the vehicle.

Where can I rent a handicap friendly car or bus?
Most Danes find it natural to take their car with them on holiday. For people with disabilities, this is not automatically the case, as it often takes several weeks of planning just to organise a ride.

Where can I buy a travel card (Rejsekort)?
As a tourist, it is possible to buy an anonymous Rejsekort at certain retailers in Vejle. The travel card can be shared with others, and friends and family can check in with you. Take a look at where you can buy the card.

I've lost something on the train/bus. How do I contact the lost property office?
If you have lost personal items on DSB trains, you can report them missing via the DSB website. Report item missing here.

How do I buy a train ticket?
You can purchase train tickets via the DSB smartphone app, from ticket machines at train stations (payment card or coins) or from 7-Eleven stores located at the larger stations, such as Vejle Railway Station. See the 7-Eleven opening hours here.
How can I buy tickets for city buses and regional coach services?
If you do not have a Travel Card (Rejsekort), you can either purchase tickets for Sydtrafik city and regional buses from the bus driver using cash or purchase them online via the RejseBillet app. See the RejseBillet smartphone app here (for bus and train trips in the whole of Denmark). Please note that not all types of cash is accepted by in all busses. We therefore strongly recommend using Rejsekort or Rejsebillet!
Please note that not all nationalities have the option to register with their phone number via the RejseBillet app. However, everyone can purchase a ticket via the Rejsekort app.

Where can I park in Jelling?
It is easy to find a parking space in Jelling and parking is free. Among the places you can park are the Kollegiegade carpark, on Vestergade, on Runevej, on Mølvangvej, at Byens Hus (entrance via Bethaniavej or Møllegade) and by the railway station on Jernbanevej. Where can I park a tourist coach in Vejle?
You can drop off and pick up your passages at the parking lots designated for tourist coaches at Borgvold at Vejle Traffic Centre. It is also possible to drop passengers off and pick them up again, in the marked booths along Strandgade near Fjordenhus.
You can park tourist coaches on Ibæk Strandvej close to the Vejle Fjord Bridge. Please note, that there is some distance to Vejle city from here.
Where can I park a tourist coach in Jelling?

How do I get from Vejle to LEGOLAND or Billund Airport with public transport?
Regional buses 43 and 143 run from Vejle Traffic Centre by Vejle Station to LEGOLAND and Billund Airport. There is a bus stop just outside LEGOLAND. In Billund Airport, busses stop at the entrance to the terminal building.
With bus 43, it takes approx. 34 minutes to LEGOLAND and approx. 29 minutes to Billund Airport. The bus runs about every half hour (during late and early hours approx. every hour) all days from early morning till late evening. With bus 143, it takes approx. 40 minutes to LEGOLAND and approx. 45 minutes to Billund Airport. Bus 143 runs approx. once an hour.
You purchase tickets from the bus driver using Danish kroner or Euro (cash, only bank notes). If you pay with euros (notes only), you will get change back in Danish kroner. You can withdraw cash at the ATM at Vejle Station (for a fee). You can also pay using the RejseBillet app.

How do I get from Vejle to Jelling with public transport?
By bus (weekdays)
Regional bus 211 runs from Vejle Trafikcenter at Banegårdspladsen (next to Vejle Station) to Jelling on weekdays. If you are visiting the Jelling Monuments/Kongernes Jelling, you should get off at Skovgade by Vejlevej in Jelling. From there, it is about a 550-meter walk.
The bus ride to Jelling takes about 20 minutes. Bus 211 runs approximately once per hour on weekdays (about every 30 minutes during rush hour).
You can buy your ticket from the bus driver using Danish kroner or euros (cash, notes only). If you pay in euros (notes only), you will receive change in Danish kroner. You can withdraw cash from the ATM at Vejle Station (a fee may apply). It is also possible to pay with a Rejsekort or the RejseBillet app. See current prices and timetables at sydtrafik.dk.
By train (every day)
Trains run daily from Vejle Station to Jelling Station. If you are visiting the Jelling Monuments/Kongernes Jelling, you will find the sights about 400 meters from the station.
The train ride to Jelling takes about 13–14 minutes. Trains run approximately once per hour.
You can buy your ticket at the ticket machine at the station, at the 7-Eleven kiosk at Vejle Station, or online at dsb.dk or in the RejseBillet app. You can also plan your trip on rejseplanen.dk. Check the current prices at the machine or online when planning your trip.
How do I get from Vejle to Givskud Zoo with public transport?
On weekdays
Regional bus 211 runs from Vejle Traffic Centre by Vejle Station to Givskud. To visit Givskud Zoo, alight at Løveparkvej in Givskud. From here, walk approx. 700 metres.
It takes approx. 28-34 minutes to drive by bus 211 to Givskud. The bus runs approx. every 1-3 hours on weekdays.
You purchase tickets from the bus driver using Danish kroner or Euro (cash, bank notes only). If you pay with euros (bank notes only), you will get change back in Danish kroner. You can withdraw cash at the ATM at Vejle Station (for a fee). You can also pay using the RejseBillet app.

On weekends
On weekends, you can take the train from Vejle Station to Give Station, where you need to change to regional bus 119. To visit Givskud Zoo, alight at Løveparkvej in Givskud. From here, walk approx. 700 metres.
The train and bus trip to Givskud takes approx. 40 minutes. There are departures approx. every 3-4 hours.
You can purchase tickets from the ticket vending machine at the station, at the 7-Eleven store at Vejle Station or online at dsb.dk. You can also plan your trip and see prices when using the online travel planner rejseplanen.dk.
Where can I store my baggage in Vejle?
You can store your luggage in the lockers at Vejle Station, Banegårdspladsen 3, 7100 Vejle. The cost for a storage locker depends on the size of the locker and can be seen near the lockers. You can store your luggage for up to 3 days. Payment is by card.
You can drop off and pick up your luggage within the station's (foyer's) opening hours, which are:
- Monday - Saturday from 04:45 to 24:00
- Sundays and public holidays from 06:45 to 24:00.
Where do you find the regional Flixbus service?
Flixbus connects Vejle with the regions in Denmark, including Copenhagen and Aarhus. The designated bus stops are located at Borgvold at Vejle Traffic Centre. You can see the bus sign by the road outside the GreenMind store, just across the road from the corner of VisitVejle.
Where can I park in central Vejle?
Finding a parking space in central Vejle is easy. Some parking spaces are free, while others require paying a parking fee.
There are more than 1,400 parking spaces in central Vejle - many with two hours of free parking, such as in the parking garages Tróndur, Albert and Cronhammar as well as on the rooftop of the Bryggen shopping centre.
Always read the signage carefully before leaving the car. Pay special attention to the parking regulations when parking near Banegårdspladsen and the city centre by Dæmningen, as well as by Fjordenhus on the waterfront.

Fishing and Angling
Where do I buy an angling permits for Vejle Å and Vingsted Sø?
Fishing in the river of Vejle Å and the lake of Vingsted Sø requires a state angler fishing license (provided you are between 18-64 years of age) and that you are furthermore either a member of Vejle Sportfiskerforening (Vejle Angling Association) or hold a one-day angling permit valid for these local angling areas. For conservation reasons, the sale of angling permits is divided into zones. Non-members can purchase day permits for selected zones.
For children and the young, the following applies:
- Children aged under 12 can angle free of charge but must nonetheless still acquire a permit
- Children and the young aged from 12 to 18 pay half price for permits
Day permits (and guest cards for members of Vejle Sportfiskerforening) can be purchased online atfiskekort.dk. Day and guest permits are valid from midnight to midnight within the same date. You can purchase a permit 60 days in advance.
Where do I purchase a state angler fishing license?
All anglers between the age of 18 and 64 must have a valid state angler fishing license to fish in Danish waters. Such a license grants the holder the right to fish with light hand-held tackle, e.g. fishing rods and harpoons, but not with fixed equipment such as nets or fykes.
The fishing license is available as a daily, weekly, or annual pass. The state fishing license must be carried and shown upon request. The state fishing license can be purchased at fisketegn.dk.
What rules apply to fishing in lakes and streams?
The fishing rights to most lakes and streams in Denmark belong to landowners and local sports fishing associations. Anglers aged between 18-64 must purchase a National Angler Fishing License. Those under the age of 18 or aged above 64 do not need such licenses. In addition, all anglers irrespective of age must obtain a local angling permit, which in many cases are valid for a whole year. Information on local fishing permits, closed seasons and minimum sizes applicable to the specific location and species can be obtained from the respective sport fishing associations.

Fishing Put & Takes
Put & Take lakes require neither National Angler Fishing Licenses nor local fishing permits. At such lakes you simply purchase day permits or hourly permits on-site.
Bait angling
Angling with live or dead bait for pike and pikeperch is permitted most places. However, live bait must be caught in the same lake where you intend to use it. However, in most lakes, especially in trout lakes, angling for live bate is not permitted.
